After getting my mortgage increased to complete my house renovations last month I've been pretty flat out organising renovation stuff etc and havnt had a chance to brew for a while although I might have to soon to fill the pipeline.
I had my sparkys in wednesday and thursday and now have 8x12W LED downlights in my lounge and another 4 above my deck and 2 in my kitchen. I kept the center light in the lounge too and it has 13W LEDs in it.
Heaps of light so I'm glad I put dimmers on the downlights. Looks good though and the outside ones light my deck well without annoying neighbours etc.
I had to get them done now as I'm having more insulation installed in my ceiling late next week and easier to put wireing in first. I would have done it myself but i doubt my bad knee would like it and its so cheap its not eorty going DIY on the insulation install.
The insulation company is adding R3.6 batts over the old blowen insulation from the 70s and also adding under floor insulation. That was payment up front but not too bad.
Also ordered the very expensive thermally broken aluminium double glazed bifold doors for the 3.6m opening. The 30% deposit on those was painful enough.
Last week my plumber replaced my 180L low preassure hot water cylinder with a nice 250L stainless steel mains preassure one with a boost element and of course i had to have the sparky for that too. The new cylinder has two 3KW elements and the old wireing was for a single 2KW element absolute max and only if the wires wernt embedded in insulation so needed replacment. I would have connected the new cylinder myself but with having to upgrade circuits its easier to get sparky to do it.
I also had my plumber install a whole house water filter 3x10"x 4.5" filters. We have had dirt in the water and chlorine ever since the council started chlorinating our water. I kept my 2.5" diameter filter set as a second stage for brewing. The cascaded filters should mean i can fill my herms setup faster and have no chlorine as 2 x carbon filters in house set and another 2 in my smaller set so lots of carbon contact time. The house ones are nice as on a bad day the town water has smelt like chlorinated swamp water so a clean chlorine free show or bath is great. Our water is nice aquifer water but they had an ecoli scare over a year ago and then never stopped chlorinating despite all the dirt it is releasing from pipes.
Also working on some new decking and fence plans to make once the bifold doors are delivered and installed.
Definitly well into the spending phase of the project now.
Just to add more stress i got a you have been selected for jury duty letter which i found out today my request to not do it this time due to medical reasons was granted.
It would have been when my knee would be getting real bad pain wise as just before my next cortisone injection. I doubt being on a jury and falling asleep due to pain killers would go down well. The pain killers or even just the pain make me really irritabile which wouldnt be good in a court.
And to top it off i was removing a palm tree two weeks ago and took a spike quite deep into my right forearm and pulled it out. Just had it looked at with ultrasound today as a lump formed. There is a 8mm long piece about 5mm deep into my arm so seeing a dr on monday which doesnt sound pleasant.
I might try and sneek in an all grain brew next weekend but I do have an extract pale ale I can brew to keep the pipeline flowing.
I need to sit down and catch up on a few threads on HBT as i just haven't had time to.
