Removing base from a corny

Does anyone have a good way to remove the base rubber from a corny keg?

I tried putting boiling water in the keg and then cutting it off with a good utility knife, but it was a seriously long process. I have at least one more to do and thought it worth asking.

Well the best way that comes to mind (and the most environmentally unfriendly, toxic, and probably most frowned upon way ) would be to burn it off. maybe cut off as much as possible first though.

Why are you taking them off? Out of curiosity.

I thought about doing that. I actually wish that I had access to a good heat wire and could pull it off that way.

I need to braze a fitting into the bottom, and thought it would be easier to do without the rubber.
