can somebody explain, in detail how to use a regulator? i have this regulator, it's got a big knob on the front, a safety release valve, and a shutoff valve on the output end. i pretty much understand what the knobs all do, but it is my understanding that i need to go about turning these knobs in a very specific order otherwise i can damage the regulator diaphragm. i just need to understand the order of events for hooking it up, introducing pressure, unhooking it, etc... i searched for like two days online and can't find any videos or instruction manuals which explain this. maybe its really really simple but i don't want to screw anything up here... thanks

IIRC, there is no specific order. Here's what I do: turn the shut-off to off, hook up the regulator to tank, check for leaks, dial-in desired pressure with the "big knob". I use 2 secondary regulators so my pressure on the primary (the one at the tank) is set to around 20-22 psi. I then can regulate separate carbing/serving pressures with the secondaries, usually around 12 psi. If you just use one regulator, just set your desired carbing/serving pressure there. It's really that simple. :mug:

as far as avoiding damage to the diaphragm: my regulator is 'off' when the knob is turned all the way counter clockwise. start at that point and turn clockwise until you reach desired pressure.

these responses are somewhat informative but what i'm looking for is a step by step thing..like:

a) hook up regulator to tank
b) turn shutoff to off position
c) take a bath
d) eat some lunch

you know.. that kind of thing

i can't understand how something which is regulating so much pressure and has three controls and two dials would be so difficult to find a manual for...

you know.. that kind of thing

a) turn regulator off
b) close shutoff
c) connect to tank
d) connect gas line to keg
e) open tank valve
f) open shutoff
g) adjust to desired pressure
