I scored a nice 3-post kegerator at a yard sale yesterday. Came with everything. 3 Corny kegs, CO2 canister, regulator, hoses and ball lock connectors. (I am replacing all hoses and ball lock connectors with new). However, this is the way the gentleman had his regulator connected. One regulator valve directly to one keg. One regulator valve to a split set of hoses to the other two kegs. He said it worked for him. I never had one before. Is this an okay way to do it?

It's a bit hinky but it'll play. The run with the two gas connectors at least provides a way to charge just one keg and shut off the other. A more conventional setup would have the wye first then independent shutoffs to each connector - or use a 1:2 gas beam that has shutoffs on each outlet port.

Thanks. I am new at the kegging game. Someone outside this forum pointed out to replace that with a two-valve manifold…is that what you are referring to? 15 bucks on Amazon. Makes it a little less clunky.
 
Yes, a "2-way" manifold would be a good choice. Preferably one with 1/4" MFL connections instead of barbs so you could switch your lines to the highly popular EVABarrier tubing at some point. Also, the shut-off valves should have integrated spring-loaded "check valves" that help prevent beer from backing up the gas lines.

Since you're new to kegging you'll have some choices to make; When it comes to the clean/sanitize/purge part there's a few options/comfort levels: Ideally the keg will be 100% filled with Star San and then purged. You can do this with fermentation gas or CO2 from a tank. You may wish to keep one of the regulators free for 'utility' purposes such as purging and force-carbing.
