Yeah, that's me.

Dude, seriously, WTF were you doing? Halloween? Please tell me it was halloween and not some anime conference...

Oh, by the way, is this also you?

I am a lvl 8 warrior seeking my adventuring companion for game play and fornication. I partake in only adventure/fantasy role play, no creepy goth stuff, it’s too weird. Only sanctioned spells allowed, costume dress optional but preferred. I have the body of a wandering Norwegian brawler and short brown hair. Please be quite buxom and imaginative for play and enjoy fantasy role play aesthetics. Please send pics, leves, preferred adventure type and spell list. We could go get dinner (under $20), and watch a movie. Also I’m allergic to cats.

To Me..Evan IS...and I will probably (hopefully) never know any better... Red Forman from That 70's Show. I keep expecting to say something stupid and have him ask me if I want to wear my ass as a hat.
BuffaloSabresBrewer Reminds me of an old friend from High School...Cause my friend had a yellow coat with that buffalo on it.
So what does mine say about me???
Never Mind. I don't want to know.

It was an anime con in Boston last year. And that was a frickin' expensive costume to make - that pink fabric alone was like $100! (It's actual silk kimono fabric.)

Oh hell no. I don't do LARPing or any of that kind of stuff... it's kinda... weird. Sure, I play D&D, but my characters stay squarely on their character sheet or on the miniatures battlemat. Cosplay at a con isn't the same thing as RP, although some people do combine the two. Generally, people doing that are like 14, which is okay in my book, but when a 30-year-old dude in costume starts acting as if he IS his character and doesn't acknowledge that he's just a guy in a costume it gets a little creepy, especially if said character is a sociopath.

The anime con stuff is kinda fun though, just to see what people come up with for costumes. At that particular con we ran into someone dressed as Ulquiorra (another character from the same series) at the hotel bar who talked to us for a while about how he made his costume. Do note that other than me drinking a beer none of any of this was in character... although my chosen character isn't that dissimilar from me appearance- or personality-wise. Same goes for my fiancee and her character in the photo, especially considering that those two characters are basically considered a couple even though it isn't explicitly stated.

We actually ran into another real-life couple dressed as Kyoraku Shusui and Ise Nanao that had pretty well-done costumes while we were there. I've noticed that people dressed as characters from the same series at cons tend to gravitate towards being in groups even if they'd never speak to or notice each other otherwise. The hotel bar was full of Bleach characters at one point, which is where we ran into the Ulquiorra guy.

About the only time I'm ever "in-character" in costume is when I'm asked to pose for a photo. That costume was the first one I've done in years, and I started going to cons 8 years ago.

And on a side note...

Best part about cons?

Hotel accomodations, parking, and con admission for the weekend... $425
A Japanese schoolgirl uniform with short skirt ... $50
Getting your girlfriend to wear it... Priceless
:D

Okay, then let's see a pic of that:D

Whenever the phrase Japanese School Girl is made a pic is warranted. I'm pretty sure its stated in our constitution at HBT somewhere.
