Can anyone shed some light on Refractometers?

I just ordered the B3 MT702 that supplies its own light source...

I did not get the temperature compensating model..

Can anyone shed some experience with these? Did I order the wrong thing?

I would like to use this for both beer and wine OG and FG as well as samples to test for completed fermentation.

Thanks...

I got one about 3 years ago. I use it all of the time.
I have the auto temp comp model, but since you are only using 3 drops or so of sample, I don't think it matters. It will go to ambient temp in way less than a minute.
You can take readings of first runnings, final runnings, total runnings, etc. and basically not lose any wort.
You do need a formula or ProMash after the wort ferments out to calculate the FG, but it's not a big deal.
I haven't used my hydrometers in years.

Yeah, I've been really wanting one of these, but I'll probably wait until I go AG since there's probably more use for it there. If this is the one you ordered I'm sure you're fine. I would have gone with the cheaper one since I don't normally brew in pitch darkness ;) .
