Which type of capper you guys recommend?

Its preference. I have the first one. The second one is better in the aspect that it will cap about any cappable bottle. The drawback on the bottom one is that it really needs to be mounted to work well.

These responses about cover it. I started with type '1', the "Red Baron" capper, because it came with my original kit. It works fine on any bottle that has that lower bulge below the lip, because that's what it grabs onto to do the work. I switched to the second "bench" type capper, because it's easier on the arthritis in my wrists. I have an antique version, a Prohibition-era model that belonged to my maternal grandfather. And, yes, it works better if it's mounted to a board; I didn't bother bolting it to a bench, just increased its footprint some and it works fine.
