I want to use a small amount of black malt for color on an amber lager. I'm interested in steeping the grains in a hop bag, then adding that wort to my boil. What temps are recommended for black malt or debittered chocolate malt? I was thinking something around 149F.

Thanks.

Temp really just speeds up the process, thus cold steeping overnight. There is no conversion happening with that malt, so you can add it when you start heating water and remoe it when you get toward 170 to save time, or let it steep at the 140-170 range for 20-30 mins and the results will be similar.
