I am thinking about making a simple IPA and was wondering if some one would review my recipe and provide comments. I use the BIABacus and it seems to increase my grain bill pretty high.

Thanks!

Only have 15 or so batches under my belt, nearly all BIAB, so take my opinion with a grain of salt but the grain bill looks OK to me provided you hit your expected efficiency. I'm definitely a hop head so my first instinct is to boost the hop additions, but that's just me. Think you will get the simple IPA you're shooting for no problem!

Brewer's Friend gives very similar numbers for that grain bill and hop schedule. It's a little light-colored for a BJCP American IPA, if that matters to you. It's got quite a few IBU's, but it probably won't taste like a super hop bomb because of all the malt. All in all it looks like a fairly high alcohol fairly bitter IPA.

The Priceless Brewing BIAB calculator says on my system I'd need a total of 9.03 gallons of water, my mash would occupy 10.5 gallons at mash temp, and my starting boil volume would be 8.09 gallons at boil temp.

Thanks for the feed back. Maybe Ill up the hop schedule. any thoughts on Galaxy hop? trying to keep it simple with basically 1 flavor hop

Not used Galaxy myself but recently started a series of single hop beers and have really enjoyed the results. My last batch of Chinook IPA really came out well and helped me define what I like about that particular hop. Did the same thing with Simcoe and soon will do a Centenial version - the single hop thing is something I can personally recommend and I'm sure others would urge you to pursue as well.

Up the hop bill if you want, but stay with the same malt bill if you embark on the What Does This Hop Taste Like path... I switched from 2 Row to Maris Otter on 2 consecutive brews using the same hops and really came away with two different beers. Personally I am really liking the MO even with the added cost!
