Sams club had cherries on sale. So i grabbed 6lbs for $14. I sliced them in half and kept the pits in them. Then stuck them in the freezer.

Anyone ever tried real cherries in secondary? Did you do something similar or should i throw them in the blender and make a puree? Will the freezer knock out any bugs in the cherries, or am i asking for an infection if i just thaw and rack beer ontop of it when its secondary time?

BTW i'm thinking of making a belgian red type beer, but hope it doesn't come out that sweet. Thinking the base beer will be a Belgian double. I've never incorporated fruit in a beer and would appreciate any words of wisdom from those that have traveled this path.

Thanks!
