Hey guys,
I recently freed up a carboy (great feeling) and I’m looking to try a batch of this Joes Quick Grape mead. I have everything on hand, and I am wondering about using Lalvin D47 as opposed to EC-1118. I don’t know a lot about yeast, and I am wondering about the effect on it? Can anyone speculate? Thanks

EC1118 is a bit more forgiving from a fermentation temperature standpoint.

D47 really needs to be kept in the low 60s. Once you get closer to 70, it'll throw off some bad esters.

If you can ferment in the low 60s, d47 would be a good choice for JQGM.

Just an update on this guys. I ended up just pitching the d47 and it cleared up and was drinkable in about a month. I waited an additional month and wow. This was amazing it is actually gone now because everyone loved it over the holidays. I followed the recipe exactly however I didn’t back sweeten as much I used 2 oz juice and 2oz honey and it was delicious.
