I have a simple system with an 8 gallon kettle on the stove top. I generally brew a single 5.5 gallon batch about every other week but I’ve been busy and am running out of home brew. I do also own a cheap 5 gallon kettle and have 3 FV’s.
I have been thinking of trying something like a parti-gyle or making one high OG batch and splitting it then diluting with water. I don’t know. It’s not a do or die but would love to find a solution to make a single brew day into 2 batches.
Thoughts?

A couple of quick thoughts:
  • When mashing higher OG causes lower mash efficiency.
  • People occasionally mention actually doing BIAB + 'top off' water at about a 1:2 ratio (e.g. 1 gal water for 2 gal of actual wort ==> 3 gal in the fermenter).
  • partial boil (including using BIAB for 'wort a') with late additions (extra light DME, for 'wort b') is modeled well by recipe software.
  • brew a MoreBeer 'Flash Brewing' kit while the other wort is mashing
eta: people report good results when making a concentrated wort (and doing a concentrated boil). They often top off with de-oxygenated water (the "LODO" technique is use 2 grams sugar and 2 grams bread yeast per gal of room temperature water for 30 min; the result being de-oxygenated water for a couple of days)

I have a few quick extracts I keep on rotation. I can be in and out of the kitchen in an hour.

Mill about a pound of steeping grains
Put in grain bag and steep in water as it's heating up
Pull bag before water reaches 170°
Add about 10% of your extract and bring to boil
Boil for half an hour adding hops per a schedule
Fill fermenter halfway with ice/cold water and add wort
Top up fermenter with cold water
Add yeast and done.

Not exactly a split match, but I think this may check the box of two brews in one brew day.

Keep the ingredients simple and it almost always makes a good beer.
