Hi there,

After a lot of reading on these forums I've decided to purchase an aerator. I would like to go the O2 tank route because it seems like the most efficient method. However, my local brew store only carries fish tank-style aerator pumps. I'm wondering where I can purchase O2/aerator units online.

I'm located in Toronto, so if there are any Canucks out there wise to some local guys that carry the product, or any other Canada-specific tips, please let me know! Otherwise I'm ok with importing one.

Also - Do these aeration devices fit to a common/universal tank size that can be purchased a hardware store, or something like that? What type of prices are we talking?

Enlighten me!

Thanks for the assistance.

The o2 tanks are reversed thread. You can find a regulator for them in a brazing kit sold at big hardware stores. Not the cheapest way to go but I heard they were hard to find as stand alone and you don't have to wait for it.

Morebeer ships to Canada don't they?

They have stones at Morebeer that aren't on their website. I suggest calling them.

Wait...so can I use this directly as an aerator with little modification (other than some tubing and aerating stone)?

Right. It has teh gas and regulator. Just need some tubing and a stone and you're good to go. I bought an inline thermometer assembly that had a stone built into it from Morebeer. The threaded stone is the one they sell that is not on their site if you want to build your own or just get a barbed stone and add the o2 once in the fermenter.

Be aware if you buy the barbed stone, it's a 1/4" fitting, and the tubing coming off the oxygen tank is 3/16". The reduction barb is impossible to find outside of a kit. I ended up buying 2 brass barbed fittings, one male and one female NPT.
