I made my first pumpkin beer (based on the Samhain pumpkin ale recipe). I was sick and didn't want to mess with it while I was all Germey. So I didn't put it in primary after two weeks. It ended up sitting in primary for 5 weeks. When I popped the top to keg it, it had a strong smell sort of like vinyl. It tastes ok but the has the vinyl flavor as part of the after taste. Is it just from the spices and the beer Bering warm or did something get screwed up. I used filtered water so I don't think it was from chlorine in the water. Could it be from sitting on the turb to long? Any help would be great. Thank you

I also made a winter spice beer that had the same result. But the smell was not as strong. Will it fade over time.

Are you sure your town uses chlorine and not chloramine? id treat your water with campden and see if that fixes your issue.
