A friend of mine gave me his spare 12.5 gallon conical fermenter.

I brew in my carport, approx 30-40 ft away from my fermentation chamber.

Would a chugger pump work to pump the wort from my brew setup to the fermenter? If so, what are you doing to get the wort out of the 30-40' of tubing when finished pumping?

Also, if I'm going to go with a pump, I may as well use it to set up either a counterflow chiller or a whirlpool recirculation with my current immersion chiller. Any issues putting a t-adapter on the outlet, with one side going to recirculate into the kettle, and the other going to the fermenter after chilling?

Thanks

Andy

A chugger pump shouldn't have any issues to pump that distance as long as it's a level grade until you have to go up into the fermentater.

To accomidate that much wort left in the tubes you can account for misc losses when building a recipe or pump Star San or water through the line and stop the flow right before it reaches the fermentor. If a little Star San or water gets into the fermentor it won't cause any issues.

Or, sanitize a couple buckets, run your cooled wort off into each, cover and carry to conical and dump them in.
