Where do you guys get these? I am in Canada but wouldnt mind paying the shipping assuming I can get a decent deal on one.

But are they in an appropriate BTU range? I have an item I am thinking of getting from my local Canadian Tire (very similar to the stores you listed), Does anyone think this is a good deal/will heat up fast enough??

Canadian Tire

Opinions??

I was checking out this burner too, but they were all out at the Canadian Tire near me.

Personally, I would say to go for it since it is so cheap and comes along with a 7.5 Gallon pot...

If the burner sucks, then when you'll buy a proper burner, you'll have a backup :D

Appropriate BTU range kind of depends on how patient you are. Too hot might scorch the wort but there really isn't a too low, it just might take a little longer to get to boil. For what it is worth that burner looks a lot like mine and I have no problems doing full boils on it. The price is higher than what I paid but not outrageous.

are you doing all grain full boils? 5g or 10g batches?

i do full boil 5g batches all grain with a cheapo turkey fryer set up. been using the same one for around two years. works like a champ every time.

I'll let you in on a little secret. There is a brass fitting on the regulator that has a little pinhole where the propane comes out. If you disconnect it first, then put a small finishing nail on the hole and gently tap it with a hammer to widen the hole, you will increase the BTU's. Just do it a little bit at a time and test it. Don't hammer it all the way through it or propane will shoot out so hard it will blow out the flame.
