My ground water is about 75F all year. think this is a good way to get it colder?

hook up my garden hose to my old immersion chiller(50 ft). place the immersion chiller in a bucket of ice water. then run the water thru the chiller.

pump wort thru the plate chiller as normal with ball valve to control flow.

I used to do that. Worked OK. Remember to stir the ice water in the prechiller bucket. It had a big impact for me.

Now, I put 20-40 pounds of ice in my MLT with water and pump the ice water through my pc. I cool single pass running the wort pump full speed and the ice water half open. That cools 10 gallons to about 50 degrees in a few minutes. I capture the waste in my hlt and use it to clean. I like this method better.
