Ok... I just received 5 old pin lock corny's from my dad that are still full of Coke. the problem with them is, only 2 of them have bleeders in the lids. i need to find a way to put bleeder valves into the other 3. can i just drill and tap a 1/4 NPT hole in the lids and pop in a bleeder valve? I'm just not sure if there is enough meat in the lid to seal the bleeder up good. i guess i could tig weld a nipple in the lid and then pop a bleeder into it.... Anyone have any experience with this little problem?

Why do you need a pull ring? Everybody who has pin locks, or converted pinlocks just pulls off the gas in connector and depresses the poppet with a screwdriver or something of that sort. If you must have tops w pull rings, you can buy them brand new for about 15 dollars online.

Yeah, bleeders on the lid are nice...but not essential. For the ones I have without the bleeder, I just depress the gas poppet with a screwdriver. No biggie

when you press the co2 valve, it doesn't shoot out any liquid?

Been there, done that, when I've just totally filled a keg and tried to purge the head space. Messy.

But if you keep the fill level below the end of the gas dip tube (usually around an inch and a half or so below "totally full") you won't get bathed in beer...

Cheers!

I cut the gas in tube so that it's half as long and I can pretty much fill the kegs completely without getting that wonderful face full of blowback when I depress the poppet.
But if you really feel you need the pull rings you can buy lids with them for about $15 at most of the online homebrew stores.

Yeah, you can buy new lids & they also sell the pull valves to install into your existing lids. You could also just spend $5 on one gas QD and not attach it to anything, just use the QD to release pressure on all your kegs when needed

Here is a stupid question...
If you don't fill the keg up to the gas tube, and you can cut the gas tube down...why don't we just leave the gas tube out??? I'm sure that it probably seals the ball lock fitting to the keg itself or something, but its just a question.
