I'm not even going to post a picture. June 19th and none of my plants are over 6 ft tall! 50 years ago the farm down the hill was a commercial hop grower.

Must be global warming.

The four new plantings are only an inch tall. I'm talking about the four I planted last year. The weather guessers say ten days of sunshine and warm weather. Who knows?

Ive got 2 cascades that are growing well and 2 nugget that are growing at a snails pace. I planted them with a couple pounds of manure/ compiost mixture, you'd think they'd love that stuff. What kind are you guys growing?

I got the same two types as you with similar results. Cascade (10') faster than the nugget (5') but the nugget isn't getting as much sun for me. Wasn't sure if it was that or nugget just is a slow grower. Yours getting equal sun?

Shoot, all of mine but the Chinook are over 6 feet now.

The Northern Brewer plant from last year has already surpassed the limits of the twine I had--about 15 feet up!

I planted Glacier, and the plants are only 3-4 feet tall at this point. Lots of sun, but we've also had a lot of rain and the soil washed away around the rhizome, leaving some of it poking up above ground. :( That's next on my list of things to fix in the yard. Previous was extending the drainage pipes 30 feet to solve the runoff problem in the first place. Nothing like digging ditches in the summer heat to make you want a cold one. ;)

I've got Fuggles, Willemette, Northern Brewer and Cascade from last year and added Nuggett, Perle, Sunbeam and Mt. Hood this year. The new ones are "early maturing". Fuggles was the only one to produce anything last year. Three flowers the size of raisins! The guy down the hill says there are still some plants on his farm from the 1950's. I'll have to check them out, no telling what might have survived the mildews.

This is one thing in brewing I haven't tried ..yet? We have some pretty long ,hot, humid summers in Central Texas. Has anyone tried to grow any in central TX? Do any of you know if its possible given the conditions?
