I am building a ball valve on my 10 gallon cooler using directions from the conversion kit that I linked below. I went to Home Depot and purchased the parts. It says to use (part # A-294) 3/8 barb x 3/8 MIP but on the back of the package it says it contains greater than .25% lead and exceeds limits mandated by state for drinking water. It also has me using other parts that seem to be made out of the same substance. Do you guys have any comments on this? I definatly do not want to be slowly poisoning all my loved ones.

Don't do it, I've heard you can oxidize it but is it really worth getting lead poisoning?

I will only use something that was made for supply lines (water coming into your house for drinking).

All brass contains some lead in it, and almost all faucets are made of brass. If your home is more than 40 years old, there's probably lead in the solder too!

So one vote for yes and one vote for no. Any other input would definatly be appreciated. I will change it if it is a legitimate concern, but if I have nothing to worry about, than I would like to know so I can brew in confidence.
