Are you talking about different types of malt extract? There may be be slight differences in color between a "blonde" and "amber" extract, but not much else.

Generally if you are brewing with extract you pick a light or dark extract close to the color of the style you're brewing, then add specialty grains or a partial mash if you want a more specific malt profile.
 
if you are asking what "pale ale malt" is, it's basically barely-darker light 2-row malt. Almost indistinguishable. you can google "2-row light versus pale alt malt" if you want more into, but they are basically the same if you are starting out.
