I suspect I know the answer to this, but as I was working through the must creation process I ended up with way to much must for my 1 gallon glass carboy. So I moved it up into an empty 5 gallon fermenter (bucket style.) Is this going to be a problem? Is there too much space there for it to work properly? I'm not seeing bubbling, but I do see very strong pressure in the airlock, and if I press my ear to the side I can hear (or maybe I delude myself into hearing) the faint sound of bubbling.
So do I need to just buy more ingredients and finish out a 5 gallon batch and hope for the best, or should it be okay as is?
The mead in question is a raspberry-black berry melomel with a wee bit of vanilla bean added in.
Thanks.
Addendum: I'm using Lalvin 71b-1122.
