I'm well aware that malted barley isn't the only type of grain I can use in my homebrews. I know some people use oat meal, and some use flaked maize. But I've also heard of people buying sacks of feed corn and using that. What's the difference between whole kernel corn like birdseed that people use to brew, and the flaked maize I can buy at my local homebrew store? How do you prepare each, what would you suggest? Is one more cost effective than the other, is one more efficient than the other, and are there any recipes you would recommend that I use to get started with brewing with corn. Basically, I know nothing about corn. LOL any help would be much appreciated.

I have been using cornmeal to good effect in my Cream of Three Grains. But, it has to be boiled before being mashed.
