I have no idea if this is off (I am assuming it is), I just found the comment response part by OP to be funny.
A peanut butter stout for two amazing SARA beers... Lemme think about that one real quick.

"Hey, remember all that stuff for years that we said was off-limits to discussion because 'check the name on the door' or whatever? Turns out we care more about page clicks and money than any sort of principled position and we're worried about losing you to other sites or Facebook groups, so here you go!"

There's an off-topic forum now too. No politics or religion, I'm sure they'll change that policy once click rates drop again.

For "Respect Beer Society" members only.

Just when you thought they couldn't get any worse.... It's actually quite impressive to continually be so terrible

Everything over there is followed by a "cHeErS!!" as if that makes everything better.

At least when its people arguing back and forth in a thread. Didnt go back to see if any of these 'respect beer society membership' announcements ended that way too.

lol who would have a secret section for people who give money to a forum....

Was having some fun over there last week as GunmarTheBlack, and it has become an even sadder state of affairs as many here have pointed out.

Do people still make trade offers of "rare" growler fills of non-rare beer? I remember back in the day there would always be people posting growler fills -- "capped on foam", because that's all anybody cares about -- of Pumking, BCBS and other non-rare beers that were unusual as growler fills but, like, demanding impressive **** in return.

Sure, dumb stuff still happens but I kind of hope this specific dumb thing has endured. Call me sentimental...

I would do dumb things for a growler of Poetica, don't care

How do you even find places that fill growlers anymore?

I received a GPITFMB regal rye bcs 64oz growler fill a couple months ago.

Ive made worse decisions, but not many.

Reading this made me think of a thread BITD on BA, from around the time period when I started posting, dealing with that very topic that got pretty heated, it was something like "FT: Growler fills of beers readily available in bottles ISO: limited releases". I couldn't find it, but looking for it did lead to some fun content. Searching the Trade Help forum for "growler" or "growlers" will bring most of it up, but these ones were particularly entertaining:

https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/iso-trade-value-of-pliny-the-younger-growler.60393/

in which Levitation does the "Cali shitlord defends other Cali shitlords on account of the rest of the country being shitlords" dance.

This thread is incredible for all the wrong reasons, as usual:

Why you make me read these things?

What about the guy who won a growler of younger as part of a charity event at a bar outside Philly and either sold it out traded it immediately? That was good fun too.

Here's another solid read:

I think FFF prices will still remain high but demand will wane due to the demise of Ebay beer sales, the apparent futility of Craigslist sales, and the insanely competitive Chicago beer scene that is bound to hit it's apex sometime soon.

Heh. While this guy was sort-of correct about Craigslist, he completely missed the rise of Facebook as the platform for shitlord beer sales, and it's hilarious to hear someone in *2012* predict the apex of the Chicago shitlord scene "soon".
