I made beer a few months ago for our Round Table barbecue this evening. 120 pints split in three batches, light and hoppy, ESB and oatmeal stout.

Was bricking it this afternoon thinking I'd get lynched at the gate if the guys didn't like the beer......

Not a single commercial beer was drunk, all my homebrew went .... and four people said they'd back me financially if I ever wanted to open a brewpub!

I'd call that a success. :mug:

Cheers,

I've been told that quite a few people nearly didn't come to the party when they heard what we were serving based on previous bad experience of homebrew. It's one of our biggest social events so the Chairman put a lot of faith in my ability to pull it off ( without tasting my beers before agreeing to use them I should add!).

I'd def call that a big success. My beers have improved & evolved enough to where I'm starting to get the same thing. And it's agreed throughout the family that I'm the ichibon pitmaster. Sil told me once that if for nothing else,I'd be remembered for my bbq. She doesn't know I home brew yet.
Glad to here it went over so well. It's like Gene Said about Kiss & "Arena Love". When more people in the crowd love what you've done than not,it's the greatest mind F*** of all! Congrats!!:tank:

I had one of these this weekend. It was our family's annyal pig roast on saturday and I brought a corny of oktoberfest that I brewed myself. It was floating before too much damage was done to the commercial offerings on tap (BL and Dos Equis Amber) with many comments and people approaching me to talk about HB. Isnt it a great feeling?

Wow. That was a gutsy move then. Glad you came through with flying colors. Congrats!

Unfortunately, now they're going to keep expecting excellent beer from you. So my condolences as well.

Thanks everyone,

I still catch myself having a wry smile when I think about it and the guys were still talking about it when we met up for a wedding of one of our members at the weekend. Great feeling.

As for being gutsy; I am pretty sure that my last words will be something along the lines of " sure, I'll have a go....how hard can it be?" That's just the sort of person I am. :mug:
