I've just finished my 3rd batch ever and everything ran smoothly. I pitched the yeast into the primary, and that day the airlock was bubbling like a champ. However, the next day all bubbling action has completely stopped. Nothing, nada.

Has anyone experienced this? I checked this morning (day 3) and still nothing. I refuse to believe fermentation has completed. Anyone experience this?

i have done 4 brews since taking up this hobby and 3 of my 4 batches had no airlock activity after 24 to 36 hours.

airlock activity started anywhere from 1 hour after pitching to 4 hours after pitching.

so far ABV on brews 2 and 3 were 3.5 and 4.2 respectively when racking to the secondary after 1 week in the primary. when bottling those ABV's rose to 4.0 and 4.7. so even though there is no airlock activity, fermentation continues.

my 4th batch was 6.0% going into the secondary. i expect 6.5+ when bottling...

i don't think it's a problem. :mug:

Are you using a carboy or a plastic bucket? Have you checked for air leaks?

You can believe it or not. The only way to know is taking a gravity.

My shortest fermention was around 18 hours.

thank you for the replies and comments. i took a gravity and indeed fermentation has halted. I'm planning to rack to glass secondary for dry hopping. Thanks again!
