Old Stainless Hot Water Heater

My house is oil heat with an indirect fired hot water tank. The old 40 gallon stainless tank just failed. I'm not certain but it looks lke the only leak is where the blow off pipe enters high on the tank. Is it worth messing with to try and build a kettle? Anyone have experience cleaning the scale and gunk out of one of these? I'm not sure how to approach this.

Sounds like a job for a hot day and a pressure washer! Should be well worth the effort.
