Hey all,
I've got a beer that has been in secondary for over 5 months. I never got around to bottling it because i was in the middle of moving/starting to keg. I never thought 5 months would be a problem, but there is a build-up of trub in the carboy that is more than usual. Also, when I looked at it last night, I noticed that the water in the airlock had evaporated below the normal line and there were 4 dead gnats floating in what was left. I took the airlock off to clean and refill it, and there was a pretty rancid smell coming from it. Aside from going on like normal and kegging, is there anything I can do? Do you think it's fubar-ed?

Did you taste it? If it really smells that bad, it is probably toast IMO, but if it was me, i know I would keg it and give it a whirl. Couldn't hurt.
