I have heard some wheat yeast generated esters as having a "bubblegum" smell, but had never detected it.
I recently sniffed the airlock of my hefe. Yep, bubblegum. I called my son over to sniff.
"Candy?" he asked. "How about bubblegum?", says I.
"YOU PUT BUBBBLEGUM IN THE BEER!?!?!"
