now the ravens are coming forward saying they though the balls were deflated as well. i think every team does it, other than green bay because rodgers loves hard balls

ESPN is reporting that 11 of the 12 balls were deflated. Obviously, the person who handled them the most throughout the game should be punished not the coaching staff or organization who may not have been in on it. The only acceptable answer is to suspend Brady for his next game to maintain the integrity of the game.

(Hey, I can dream).

Fact. When Belichick took over the Patriots... Vince Wilfork weighed an under inflated 215. Now he tips the scales at 836 pounds.

Fact. When Belichick took over the Patriots... Polar Bears roomed the Arctic. Now there are only 7 polar bears alive .

Fact. When Belichick took over the Patriots... People wore hoodies because it was cold. Now only felons wear them.

Fact. When Belichick took over the Patriots... Tom Brady was a sixth round draft pick. Now he wears Gucci hoodies and Ugg boots.

Fact. When Belichick took over the Patriots... Kim Jong-Un ate mice. Now he clicks them and the world shivers.

Fact. When Belichick took over the Patriots... Barack Obama was a community organizer. Now...........

Ok. I'm with you. Let's lynch the bastard !

I know I should because it's perfect thread fodder but I just can't seem to give a f--k about deflategate. Colts lost because of Luck's under-inflated balls.

Honestly taking off my trash talk hat for a second...

Pats should get punched in the gut here. I honestly think it is a minor infraction... and much less of a deal than players taking PEDS or something like that... but the Pats got caught breaking an actual rule, so there has to be some kind of punishment.

The issue is... It instantly gives every ******* who already hates the Pats a mountain of ammo to just be a flaming ****** about it. That's a pain and all but the real frustrating part is.... fine.... everyone wants to pile on the Pats... then pile on Aaron Rodgers who, like I was posted earlier... Admitted that he does the same thing constantly. That went by without a blip but now all of a sudden the Pats and Belichick are the biggest cheaters in history.

It's crap

I saw the Rodgers thing and had the same reaction... couldn't care less. It's like saying Marshawn Lynch was going to "cheat" because he wanted to wear gold cleats instead of "NFL Approved colors"... It's effin stupid.

Pats, again, did something really stupid and they should get penalized but the worst part of all of this is, again, another fckuing round of jerkoffs and their "Cheatriots" bullshti is now coming for another decade.

Only thing that might help is if the Pats absolutely blow Seattle out in the Super Bowl and basically give the world a "deflate THIS" message but... i don't realistically see that happening.

The point all the Pats fans seem to missing is: Why can't they just pay straight up and follow the rules? They ARE cheaters. You try your hardest to justify it and make comparisons, anything to distract from the fact they keep cheating and it just leaves a bad taste for everyone. It should for you too. Wouldn't you rather them win legit?

The thing that everyone seems to be overlooking here (sorry, here comes a little science in the trash talking thread), and I'm surprised to see anybody around here - especially anyone who maintains a draft system - is that temperature affects pressure!

I've seen nothing to say where, or under what conditions they measured the balls either before or after. Everything I've read so far suggests the "after" measurement was taken during the game, and outdoors (where it was between 40 and 50 degrees). Was the "before" similarly taken outdoors or, was it more likely done indoors in an equipment room - probably closer to a comfortable 70 degrees? Again, the "standard operating procedure" type articles I've read sure suggest this is most likely.

A swing of 20-30 degrees could easily explain a drop of 1-2 PSI.

Granted, it looks bad, but there's still not enough details out there yet to say 100% what happened.

Also taking off my trash talk hat:
I tend to agree with all of that, but given your teams overarching and ever evolving reputation, isn't it time your genius head coach started to realize that sh!t like this is going to be held up as "yet another example" of the Pats cheating?

At some point your frustration needs to be pointed at your team. Without it's colorful history with the rules, nobody cares whatsoever about this, but given what transpired, formations, ball inflation, electronics, locker room security, video technology, audio technology, practice squad player poaching....it's all going to be open season.

I feel your pain and would be just as frustrated if it were my team, but if they had remained beyond reproach all along, ball inflation/deflation is the same non-issue it's always been to the casual football watching public.

Wait - so because a lame-azz coach whined about formations that were perfectly legal (and had in fact been used the day prior in a college Bowl game), then the Pats shouldn't use them because the Spygate thing happened once upon a time?

And again, because the Spygate thing happened once upon a time, the Pats shouldn't sign other teams' practice squad players? Um, news flash: the Pats have lost practice squad players to other teams too. Nothing underhanded there - it's part of how the business side of the game works. Happens all the time, all around the league. If a guy gets a chance to make someone's 53-man roster, he has every right to that chance.

Not sure what you're getting at with electronics.

"One time, your team got caught not observing the rules, so unless they stay absolute choir boys and don't even participate in normal practices related to the game (ie, signing practice squad players, using various formations, etc) then everyone will forever presume them to be cheaters" is just kind of a dumb statement to make.

You might have a point if all 12 balls were similarly affected. The kicking ball didn't suffer this temp related pressure deflation. It was really f'ing stupid considering the Pats didn't need to do it to win that game.

That's exactly it...totally unecessary; simply Belichick being an arrogant *******. His name will always be associated with cheating and he deserves it. ****

Missing my point entirely. If it were not for the reputation your team already has, none of those things would even be under the microscope. Electronics was just an example of the things the Patriots will be scrutinized for because of their reputation. I did not create this, and my post was not an attempt to impugn the Pats, they've done that to themselves. Reflect for a second how we got here.

I really don't care to read whining and indignation from Patriot fans when an ounce of prevention (like not deflating footballs in the AFC Championship game) is worth a metric sh!t-ton of cure.

Direct your frustration to your leader (I respect his football mind very much) and ask why he's not aware of what the rest of the world IS painfully aware of.....the Patriot reputation for stretching and breaking rules.

11 out of 12 balls is what they're talking about - and here's what I'm having trouble reconciling:

Each team submits 12 game balls, and some number (6 I think) of kicking balls. I've seen absolutely nothing written about the kicking balls.

But then - in inclement weather, each team also submits 12 additional back-up game balls. I've seen nothing about the back-ups, except the fact that they exist.

So the 11 out of 12 is what - 11 of that first 12, presumably? What about the back up balls? What about the kicking balls? What about the Colts balls?

If that one game ball that didn't come in under pressure is the outlier from all the others, it certainly brings the measurement methods more into question, wouldn't it? But all we're getting is a part of the story so far.

Everyone sit back, wait a day or two for the NFL to tell us what they actually find. Until then, it's just conjecture. And yeah, most Pats fans are going to grasp at possible explanations that don't involve cheating, while most non-Pats fans will continue to assume cheating until then. I say sit back, forget about what came before (for a day or two - when we know the full story, then we can circle back and argue till we're blue in the face), and all agree to talk about how badly the Packers crapped themselves, and how badly the Seahawks are going to embarass themselves in 2 weeks time.

Oh... It absolutely is... There is a huge amount of frustration directed at the team and I agree 100%. Everyone I know is raging pissed at the team. And I say "team" on purpose because i have no idea if this was Belichick and, frankly, I seriously doubt it was. I can't see Belichick whispering a ball boy to take 2 lbs of pressure out. I see the finger being pointed at Brady. Is Belichick "responsible" sure, but let's not carried away that this some evil plan hatched by that dark lord Belichick.

But yeah, Pats fans are pissed. We make a fckuing Super Bowl again and THIS is what we need to fckuing hear for two weeks now??

All I was saying before is that there is a massive, huge, difference in people's reaction when another team "bends the rules"... Adderall? Meh, no biggie. Aaron Rodgers overinflates the ball? Ohhhh that silly Aaron. Brady took two lbs of pressure out of the balls? And people scream with so much venom its insane. (And no, I'm not talking about this thread... I'm talking about the media and fans from all over the country).

People want the Pats kicked out of the SB... belichick kicked out of the league... Gimme a fckuing break.

even if the Pats would of won the game without deflating the footballs. that does not matter. they will have a W on there record for the AFC 2014 conference game but there will be a " * " next to it. not the same as a W without cheating like the Seahawks.

Fair enough. Belichick is your leader though, so from public perception standpoint, the fact it probably wasn't him (and I do agree) isn't very relevant.

I do think this will get old for the public in a couple of days, so bide your time. With our without it, there will be something about these next two weeks you should be able to enjoy. Things could be worse. You could be a fan of any other team in your division.

Glad to hear you say you're pissed, you should be. But hopefully it's not just because you'll be annoyed at the banter but because the team keeps doing dumb chit. Now, saying bringing Adderall into the argument is just Cape retarded. That is not a performance enhancing drug. Rodgers over-inflating balls? Never happened...he says he prefers his balls that way not that they've over inflated them during games, again reaching. Anyway...already sick of talking about it. Pats are cheaters we know this, moving on to how bad the Hawks are going to fcuk them up...
