It's going to be tough. At this point, I'd *almost* rather lose 12-10 in a hard-fought defensive battle than win 38-35. Just looking for signs of improvement...

Prediction? Win or lose, Green-Ellis cracks 100 yards rushing. It's like that time I was banging your mother, I'm not very fast but I hit the hole hard. Oh, and she's a big fan of the "backdoor cut."

Predictions for tonight?

I predict paaaaain. (doing my best Clubber Lang impression)

Damn it!!!! The freakin D better show up and play well. Its my birthday for God's sake!!! (true story.. It honestly is. Feel free to give me a gift through that 'give them money' link we all have in our profiles).

If they effin lose and I gotta come in here and take lumps from you losers (not you bird ... Or you Sheck'). I will be pisssssssed! Fit... To... Be... Tied I tell ya.

You're going to need it.

What, did it take you four tries before you finally figured out how to look up "points per game," genius?

San Diego fans can sit in the back until they actually win a game in January.

I knew how to get there, just noticing the other stats in the meantime...
:fro:

Who is the tool comparing the "total yards" and crap the Pats have put up over three games vs everyone elses four games??? Is that really what was just going on?? Really?

Feel a little better now, Cape? Wasn't perfect, but D started playing with a bit more confidence. Special teams play counts as "D", don't it? Kickoff return for TD, pick six, blocked punt, blocked FG for TD... that was fun!

I wasnt feeling good at all through the first qtr but.... Wow. The rest of the game wasnt too shabby. I keep wanting to nit-pick and say, "well, the actual offense didnt do that much" but what the hell??? They never had the ball. The D or Spec Teams kept scoring for them.

Nice win. I'll certainly take a few more like that.

Ummm. We can now open the forum up for everyone else to admire the handy work of our beloved Patriots

They still allowed 400 yards though. Entertaining game to watch but I don't know how much talent was involved instead of mostly luck in that win.

So that was just raw talent to block two kicks? When was the last time NE blocked even one kick?

There was luck, of course there was. Talking to a buddy of mine here this morning, there's always a big element of luck when it comes to special teams plays.

With that said:

a. One of the key, overlooked elements of when the 2001 team started to turn around was that they started to play much, much better on special teams.

b. Those special teams plays aren't being made unless the defense was revamped the way that it was. Those are the kinds of plays that are made by young, athletic guys - not guys like Tedi Bruschi and Willie McGinnest. Amazing when they did the starting lineup tonight, really the only holder on the defensive side of the ball is Vince Wilfork.

c. This is the kind of game that lends confidence to a young squad. Again going back to 2001, that team started to come together when they beat the snot out of the Colts. I remember Brian Cox nearly taking someone's head off. You can see the swagger starting to come back - and a defense that swaggers is a defense that plays with confidence and that plays better. Ray Lewis, double-murderer and all, his swagger on the field makes the Ravens a better defensive team.

You could see the young guys playing better, once they got a couple scores. Miami was moving up and down almost at will in the first half... but not the second. That's a big deal for the Pats, given how much they've **** the bed after halftime this season.

d. Mayo is back and turning into a real playmaker. 16 tackles.

e. Law Firm... he didn't hit the 100 yard mark, but he's such an improvement over Mauroney. Doesn't make negative plays. Doesn't dance needlessly, if there's three yards to be had, he gets three yards. I feel better about the run game with BJGE in the backfield.

Your brains are fried from staring at Brady's hair last night, so you wouldn't understand!

Seriously, what does this mean?

"Now the better team has the worst record in the division"

The worst record in the division is the Bills. You trying to say the Bills are the better team? Why? Because their uniforms are prettier?

1) the team you jump to is materially worse than the team you're jumping from
2) you make your jump WELL KNOWN to all of your friends and family.
3) you hold some kind of elaborate voo-doo-like ceremony where you burn all of the things you owned from the old team (jerseys, hats, posters, etc).
4) you can NEVER go back. EVER
5) If ever questioned you can only say something like, "yeah, I used to be a Chargers fan when I was young and stupid but I am now a Bills fan and the Chargers obviously blow"
1) From '94 SB winning Dallas to '95 expansion Jacksonville.
2) With great gusto.
3) You don't seem to understand what 'secondary team' means, it's not like an ex-wife.
4) I'm going to HAVE to switch back in a few years, after the Jags move to Oklahoma City or wherever the faulk they move to.
5) Yeah, I used to be a Cowboys fan because I grew up in Texas but switched to the Jaguars because I had lived in Jacksonville for years and I knew they were going to need fans badly, a problem the Cowboys don't have.

I did learn that when a team plays at a high level and wins a few recent championships (like the Cowboys around '95) it gets to a point where the losses hurt WAY more than the wins feel good. Switch to team like the expansion Jaguars and the wins feel good WAY more than the losses hurt.

I am a fan of every team in the division except for the Patriots, but the order changes based on throwback jersey styles for the year.

I don't like the Titans Jets jerseys they should be wearing in the next game or two, so when they wear those, I root for the Bills.

It's a complex formula to keep track of who I am rooting for that week.

... I really wish that I thought you were joking.
