Just opened my first bottle of OS and its good, not great, a little on the alcohol side of the spectrum. My ? is oatmeal stout usually high AC or could my recipe or brewing gone bad. It's drinkable likeable but you sure can taste the alc. Is this the norm for a heavy stout? There were no x-tra fermentables just a mash- extract recipe from LHBS.

I don't have the recipe at hand but It has been conditioning since 4-25. I will post the recipe when I get home.

Your bigger beers will need a bit longer to condition in the bottle/keg. Also, Some stouts just have an alcy taste to them. Reminds me of Irish whiskey. Ever had Mother's Milk?
