My backup plan if the Patersbier plan does not work....
Oatmeal Stout
12 lbs Maris Otter
1.5 lbs toasted oats
.5 lbs golden naked oats
Cereal mash the oats
Mash at 158 for 25 minutes then add
.75 lbs chocolate malt
.5 lbs roast malt
Mash 5 minutes more.
No sparge.
Boil 90 minutes
1 oz Challenger hops for 60 minutes
.5 Phoenix or EKG for 30 minutes
.5 oz Phoenix or EKG for 10 minutes
1 lbs D180 candi syrup at flameout
Yeast TBD. English type with low attenuation.
I'm hoping the short, hot mash with no sparge will give me one hell of a thick beer.
