Will be traveling to NYC for the first time next month. Only have two days unfortunately.

Suggestions for interesting/unusual brewpubs or craft beer? I'm partial to west coast IPA, but also love pilsner, porter, Belgian styles.

Manhattan mostly, but may venture further out.

Thanks.

no beer trip to ny is complete without a visit to mcsorleys:

get the dark not the light.

city swiggers is always fun. they always have a few house beers on tap that are really good.

in brooklyn in redhook sixpoint is worth the trip also IMO

and i miss the coney island brewery. the brewers there were so freindly and always use to talk and answer questions and they always brewed with the windows and doors open so the whole block smelled amazing.

also in brooklyn the tap beer places can be decent and they are all over

Ask @fluketamer and apart from the beer, don't forget to try the pizza and tell us if you are compelled to fold it or not!

You reallly do want to try the pizza too...my brother lives in California and tells me the pizza out there is all crap, so if if you've never had good pizza, well..what better to go with a good beer?!
:mug:
The pizza in my part of CA is great, and varied. Having not grown up in NY, I don't think I'll be impressed with the slices. But I'm willing to do the research!

"The pizza in my part of CA is great" - no it isn't. not unless they import the cheese sauce dough and most importantly the water. lol sorry i couldn't resist.

OK, so we got the pizza down. But where do I get a beer?

Not sure if your trip already happened but in addition to fluke’s suggestions I would recommend Old Town Bar on E18th Street and Fraunces Tavern on Pearl Street for great locations/atmosphere and for a terrific beer selection stop by As Is on 50th and 10th Ave.
I’m not touching the pizza debate!
Have fun
