Hey all. I just got an 11 g packet of Nottingham Ale Yeast, and the packet is quite hard but pliable. I'm gonna try and rehydrate it and hope it works.

Any thoughts?

I would hate to waste 5 gallons of juice with this stuff.

the new Nottingham packages are vacuum sealed very tightly whereas they used to be loosely packaged. Is that what you're seeing?

We get this question every few months now..

Does the pack look like this?

Or this;

If it's the second one it is the new vacuum sealed packet meant to replace the one above which had a recall a few years back.

I still have a few of the older packs in the fridge. They're good until July I think. I paid $1.50 rack pack last year, and now I've seen the new packs as high $4.
