As a newer brewer I want to give a shout out to all the guys and gals on here, your collective knowledge has been a great help in this new adventure.
I recently purchased a Nostalgia one tap kegerator off of Craig's List for an awesome price. The kegerator came with a 5 lb CO2 tank. I gave all the parts a PBW bath, tweaked the thermostat (beer is pouring at 34*), replaced the gas and beer lines and connected them to pin lock fittings. There has been no problem, no leaks and my beer was easily carbonated at 20 psi over a few days.
I decided to use 10' of 3/16 beer line and while my pours have been foam free it is a bit slow coming out of the tap. My question to you guys is if I would be better off bumping my PSI to let's say 14-16 (I have it set at 10) to increase the pour volume or if snipping one foot of beer line at a time until I get bigger pours would be better?
If anyone is interested I have pics of the mod process for the Nostalgia kegerator. I must say though that after the lines and connectors I am in this kegerator like 200 bucks which I am extremely happy about. I read stories about these kegerators being cheap etc and while I agree that the parts aren't the best (crap regulator)I am very happy with the final product (although I will be upgrading some more parts as I go). Thanks in advance and happy brewing!
