HI all Im the newest noob in here... at least for a couple minutes. From Utah and have my first batch fermenting. I've been reading posts decided to join in case I come up with questions that I cant find answers to.

So, are you brewing something higher than 3.2? I was just in Salt Lake and had a couple beers at a small brewpub called Avenues Proper. Not bad for low alcohol beer.

yeah I picked up a one gallon amber ale kit from salt city brew supply.
SWMBO agreed to "a small one to get started" should be around 5% abv
