Hiya, new member/new brewer from the currently frigid wastelands of Chicago.

I've assisted on a few friend's brews over the years, usually all-grain, but just yesterday brewed my first batch of beer with an extract starter-kit from Midwest. I don't think I screwed it up too bad ;)

Already have plans for brews #2-4, had a ton of fun and can't wait for the five or so weeks to be up to try our beer out.

I already used this forum to assuage some of my fears regarding a couple missteps during the brewing process, and I knew I should just go ahead and sign up, considering I could tell I'll be spending a lot of time on here.

Cheers! :mug:

Welcome to the forum! You'll find lots of useful information and helpful people here.

Good to see another Chicagoan on the board!

Welcome from Lakeview!!! I'm new myself. 6 batches under my belt. Congrats on the first brew! What style did you brew?

It was an Irish Stout extract kit from MW brewing, I bought their groupon a few weeks ago.

Welcome from Waukegan.

I've been brewing for a little over a year, a few Mr. Beer extracts then a few extract kits from the LHBS (perfect brewing supply in Libertyville) and all grain since this summer.

It certainly is an addictive hobby.

Welcome from Reno! I just came back from a trip to Chicago and I was very impressed, it's a wonderful city. I wouldn't mind relocating there as Reno's small size is starting to get old. By the way, how's the brewing water over there?
