I am currently an extract brewer, and would like to start doing partial mash brews. I just wanted to get some suggestions as to what my first partial mash brew should be. I'll soon be getting the parts to build my mash tun.

Thanks in advance

Northern Brewer has partial mash kits. http://www.northernbrewer.com/shop/brewing/recipe-kits/partial-mash-kits

Pick one that looks interesting to you. Open the page then click on the additional information tab and you will find the recipe and directions.

I use the site for inspiration quite frequently. I will take a recipe and make some changes based on my ingredient inventory or to change the taste to something I think I would like more.

Austin Homebrew also has partial mash kits. I just brewed my first one 10 days ago, the Kalamazoo IPA, which they say is pretty similar to Bell's Two-Hearted. I don't know it's going to turn out, so I'm not much help there.

I was just trying to see if there is a partial mash recipe that is hard to screw up. I would like to do an IPA and such but I'm not sure if there are any ingredients that could be finicky. When I started with extract, I was told a brown ale was a good first brew. Just wanted to follow that same part for partial mash.

I really liked the advice in the first two responses. Spend a little time on those websites and digging around in their recipes till you find something that strikes your fancy. A PM is a PM, your choice. Brew something you'll enjoy. Cheers.
