New to kegging

A friend of mine just gave me an empty regular keg. I usually don't make enough to fill that keg. Is there anything wrong with filling it partial way? And is there anything I should do especially since it's a used keg from a restaurant?

If it's a 15 gallon keg just sell it to buy a corny or make it into a kettle

Obviously, the keg will need a thorough cleaning and sanitation. If you're determined to use it partially filled - and don't expect to kill it quickly - you probably should flush the head space with CO2...
