Hi all,
My name's Jim and I'm originally from Traverse City, MI but am currently living in California. I'm 27 year old Soldier and I'm just getting into the hobby.
I started out with a Mr. Beer kit and brewed an OK pale ale, pretty nasty doppelbock (threw some clove in the fermenter - bad idea), and just bottled an Irish stout which is looking promising.
I saw a Groupon from Midwest for a cheap starter package and an Autumn Amber Ale extract kit and jumped on it about a couple weeks ago. I just brewed it and put it in the fermenter on Friday and am hoping to God I did everything right.
Once I brew a few extract batches and get comfortable with the process, I hope to move into all-grain brewing.
I hope to someday (15-20 years) be good enough that when i retire from the military I can settle down and open a small brewpub in my hometown.
