Hi! I've been lurking on here for a couple weeks, I have done 2 extract kits (soon to be 3 after I transfer into bottles) and am slowly learning the ropes! :) I'm also learning there aren't a ton of female brewers so I would love to hear from any on here :) I am just a crafty person that loves to do things from scratch, which is why I started (oh... And the love of good beer!)

What part of MN....my wife is in Duluth and I have lovingly "forced" her into making a raspberry Melomel and Graff Cider. She is totally fine with me brewing, especially since I went all-grain and stayed the hell outta her kitchen.

LOL --- I am just north of St Cloud, the hubby is totally supportive, drove me to the brand new Northern Brewer store in Minneapolis yesterday and is going to make me a wort chiller :) (hes a welder)

Must be a fancy wort chiller to need a "welder" to do it....I just wrapped some copper tubing around a couple paint cans and made a rib-cage immersion chiller. no welding expertise required.

Nope not fancy, in fact I think he said buying one from a store would be a waste since he already had all the pieces, including the copper line. Saves me some money :)

its true....in this hobby you can definitely save some money by "DIY". However, there are some sites out there that carry IC's fopr practically what it would cost you to grab a 25' length of copper from Lowes. But yeah, if you have some lying around...use it up!

Yes we are big DIYers! I've already got tons of ideas for my equipment ;)

Welcome to the site. Our family is in Ramsey, so just south east on Hwy 10 from you. I've learned a ton here since joining just a few months ago. I'm about 12 batches in with 5 all grain using brew in a bag (BIAB).

North of St Cloud makes for a pretty long drive to NB. But we are lucky to have 2 large stores in town (Northern Brewer and Midwest Supplies). Both offer pretty good pricing and both have pretty decent shipping costs. I give NB the edge there. I also head into Brew and Grow on occasion if I need to get something quick.

This hobby is addictive. Beware!

Thanks! I am already addicted too LOL -- thankfully my brewing buddy lives in Big Lake so getting to Midwest and Northern is a short carpool away :) otherwise I will be taking advantage of the combined shipping. St Cloud only has Brewers Best kits available...
