Hi everbody, my name is Tony. Just getting started with brewing. Have a couple friends that have been brewing for a while and now it is my turn. I'm still getting stuff together for the first brew. That is where my first problem came in. Went to my local home brew store and thought I would pick up most of the remaining things I needed, and maybe get some advise while there. I was wrong by a long shot. The guy was a D bag to say the least. He seemed too busy and gave the feeling that I was wasting my time and his. I guess it will be strictly online shopping for me. Now that that is behind me let's have some fun.

And drink some beer!

Welcome!

I use two LHBSs...s One I buy any small parts at or specialty grains because I like the people and enjoy the convenience. The other I will only buy my bulk grain from (it is so dang cheap!) other than that they can go ***k themselves! Everytime I've been in there they act like they didn't need my money and preferred I weren't there at all.

:drunk:

The first homebrew store I went to was very close and tiny but the guy that owned it LOVED homebrewing and was just awesome. But it was all he did, he had a soda distributing company and refilled CO2 tanks. He sold his business but the guy that took over could care less about the homebrew. He hates it and only keeps it there because some locals still go in and buy it. I am no longer one of them.

Thankfully, I moved and I am once again close to a very cool homebrew store and this one is big and well stocked.

Sorry to hear about your first local HBS exp......Better stores are out there....just kkep the faith...and welcome to HBC!! or.......open your own and put the Dbag out of business...hehe Cheers!!

Reminds me of my first expierence with a lhbs.... The lady was completely rude to the customers I remember another been brought in a sample of his first batch and she had the nerve to put it next to the garbage and said to the guy she wasn't expecting to much and it was one step closer for her to toss if it wasn't any good. The guy left very disheartened and embarrassed. Next was my turn I was looking for grains and she said I must be kidding as her husband the co -owner only does extract and anyone who does all grain was a fool who wastes time and doesn't know how to brew. Needless to say I never went back there again though the funny thing thi lhbs in question is very popular as they've been around for 20+ years. Long story short I found a better shop an am happy now. The end.

Thanks for the welcomes everybody. There is another small HBS around and I was going to swing by and check it out next week. There is some much to learn my head is spinning. Having a lot of fun so far.
