I just got a new turkey fryer. It's aluminum but I'm not going to get ss until a little later.

This pot is cheap. I noticed that if I run my finger rather hard on the inside surface, I get a little dust on my finger. I filled it with water and scrubbed it with one of those green scratchy pads and let it dry. I still get the aluminum dust stuff on my finger.

Are they all like this? Would boiling it help? Or if anyone has any other solutions.

Also, what would be adequate btu output for a five gallon boil?

I use a 55k Btu Burner that came with my turkey fryer it works fine for 5 gallons. Wash it with a soft sponge after boiling water in it the aluminum dust will be gone.
