Haven't brewed anything, but I've been reading and researching home brew obsessively the past few months, I figured why not say hello.

I'm looking to start brewing as soon as possible, but what do you all recommend for beginners?

I'd like to make a simple bock but im not sure where I'm to start with all the options. If there's a really cheap option (with me being a really broke college animator student) I want to know everything!

Sweet! There's a new homebrew shop out your way I think. There's also Defalcos (my favorite) at 610/Stella Link and B&S in Seabrook.

I'd recommend a hefeweizen as your first beer. You'll undoubtedly be impatient and want to try it asap, and a hefe finishes quickly. While it's fermenting, grab another fermenter/carboy and brew another one. Start building the pipeline of brews. It's a great hobby, learn as much as you can and enjoy!

Welcome, go to homebrew store and purchase a starter kit with instructions. Defalcos is close to me, I have not tried the other places in town. The guy at Defalco's asked me what kind of beer I liked, and fixed up a kit for me.

Welcome! I'm in the Cleveland/Splendora area. I think there is a home brew store in humble. I haven't been there. I go to a store on 45- Brew It Yourself. I also agree with starting with something like a wheat beer first.
