Hello all! This is my first post but I've been stalking the forums for awhile. All the info has helped expand my understanding and tackle a few issues I had.
So I have two all grain batches under my belt (no extract for me). I just tried the first bottle if my first batch and I'm pleasantly surprised. It was a starter kit from Brooklyn brew shop, everyday IPA.
I'm pretty happy with it, although it has a distinct apricot aroma and flavour. I didn't add any flavouring so I'm guessing it's an ester issue. I didn't have a hydrometer at the time so I'm not sure of the gravities. And since it was a kit I'm not sure on the yeast strain either. It was fermenting at a colder than recommend temp, to the point I thought it was stuck. Just shows the wait and see approach is a good one.
It's not too big a deal as I just called it apricot IPA and make it seem like that's what I was going for all along
