hi,

just joined tonight. i am currently hunting out my equipment now and will be purchasing it in two weeks after my move. as soon as we are settled in the new house i am going to start my first 5 gal batch. i plan on brewing a porter or a pale ale. i want to do a specialty grain/malt extract combo.

do you think that is okay for a first run?

or should i just stick with all extract?

either way i am going to use an unhopped variety, i feel comfy enough to time addition of hops and controlling a boil. i look forward to hearing all your information/advice. i also look forward to making that awesome brew of my very own.

Hey and welcome! I did something similar for my first brew, extract and steeping grains. Far exceeded my expectations. Where in CA?
