Found a new grounding technique, I can't believe I didn't think of this before! Genius!

(Disclaimer: yeah, don't do this.)

That earth looks a little dry.
Perhaps add water to lower its impedance.

I found a metal light fitting in my place with the ground wire wrapped arround a screw and screwed into the douglas fur framing.
The light circuits in NZ were often unearthed when my place was built in the 70s to save money on wire. This fitting was a later addition and I guess running a earth wire to meet modern rules was too hard for someone.

Previous homeowner in my 1978 home ran 3-conductor house wiring in the basement, but cut off the earth wire at the outlets! Must have been just too hard to connect them to the grounding outlets he bothered to install in the first place. Pain in the @ss to fix as he cut them flush. I'll never understand the logic.
