Hi, I'm Todd from Rosamond, CA, and new to brewing. I've been wanting to start brewing my own beer for quite some time, but just pulled the trigger today on a starter kit from Midwest along with 2 cases of 22 oz. bottles to go along with all the 12 oz'ers I've collected. I also ordered 3 recipe kits from Austin Homebrew. A Sierra Nevada clone kit, a NW Pale Ale, and a Bavarian Hefe kit.

I've been lurking on here for a couple weeks gathering info, and hopefully made some good decisions. I can't wait to get started.

Welcome! The California representation on this board keeps rowing and growing. Sounds like you're on the right track. You should find answers to just about any brewing question (and beyond) here. :)

Always good to see another CA brewer. I was in Rosamond a couple of years ago on a fire up around all the windmills, I can't remember what the fire was called though. I just remember that it was very hot. You're gonna want to start thinking about some form of fermentation temp control for the hot summer months. Welcome to the board and to brewing, its a great addiction, I mean passion....

Cheers

They've staged for fires a couple times at the high school, and out of the air park near me. Sounds like you were near Tehachapi. The wife and I were up in SLO for our anniversary last year. We stayed at the Madonna, and rode bikes all over. Cool town.

I have a nice sized pantry I'm planning to use for fermenting. I did just insulate my garage, but I still see it going well over 80 degrees in the summer.

Look for free fridges/ freezers, and look into getting a temp controller, Johnson or Ranco

Yeah that is exactly where we were at, the high school. Sounds like you're headed in the right direction with your brewing, good luck.

Welcome! Great to have another CA brewer on here...sounds like you've got a great start on your kits already. :mug:

Welcome to the forum, you've come to right place to learn. I've learned a ton since I've been here, just a month or so. Enjoy.:mug:
