New Brewer from 96 SC

Hello new brew friends, I'm a new brewer just getting started with some home brews located in Ninety Six, South Carolina. Really interested in having fun with it and enjoy many craft beer types.

I started out with my first brew with a Blonde Ale and it turned out really good. I am now working on my second "Brickwarmer Holiday Red Ale". Everything went well with the brewing, smells great.

I am a little concerned with the very little activity I see in the airlock while in fermentation phase. We now on Day 3 fermenting and no visual activity in the airlock.

Anyway, glad to be a member and look forward to some fun.

First off, congrats and welcome to the commnity! Homebrewing is a wonderful hobby, i've learned so much from these forums, so welcome!

I am a little concerned with the very little activity I see in the airlock while in fermentation phase. We now on Day 3 fermenting and no visual activity in the airlock.

I've brewed 61 gallons and never pay attention to the airlock. It seems that it's really hit or miss if you see any activity in it, the important thing is that there was a krausen (looks like vomit). If you're really concerned you can take a sample and measure it with a hydrometer to really see if there has been any activity. From my experience, a lot of my brews (depending on the yeast) finish primary fermentation within 2-4 days, sometimes even faster! If you didn't take an initial gravity reading, don't worry, just make note of the one you just took and check back in a couple days.. Odds are your primary fermentation has just started a little slow, or it's already done.

Yesterday I found that the new Airlock I was using was not making a complete seal around the hole in the top of the fermenting bucket. Replaced it and it shows it working fine.

Thanks for your previous input, I did open and look inside and it seemed to be fermenting fine and bubbling well.

Looking forward to tasting in a few weeks!
